‘Normal Jean went out on a walk, she loved’

Normal Jean went out on a walk, she loved
Following the moon, like a guide leading her
To the tree she’d climb to find her perch
From which she would watch each dandelion
Nymph dance down to earth like an angel
Not quite comfortable in clouds, not ready to fall.
When her wishes had safely landed among leaves
Texturing the floor beneath her night’s room
She would imagine its becoming, a truth
Kept inside a box, hidden inside a nook, a book
With stories of her beloved Arthur she’d act out
Like a famous starlet who only existed inside
Her head, around her neck, she hung the key.
