Treasure Chest

Their voices travel
Thousands of miles
Through desert heat
Bringing tales, comfort;
Small nuggets of gold
Such sweet wealth!

Together, we mine life
Revel in its wealth.
We don’t sift dirt
For fool’s dust,
Our treasure overflows
Smiles and laughter.

No one can hunt
Our treasure map
No spot is marked,
Nothing to be buried.
Nothing can hold
This treasure.

Little feet mark the trail
Joyous calls discover
On the beach on our island:
A Frog!
A Giraffe!
A Lizard!

This treasure chest
Holds life’s truth
Holds life’s joy

Oh yes being away from the kids is very heartbreaking.I cannot begin to imagine your pain but hope that it will bring you peace and love and you never know things will turn out to be a blessing for you.

Thank you so much for these kind words, Megha. As you can see I am a little behind in my WP world!

This poem speaks to the heart of the joy I have felt for my children; they are the loves of my life and I miss them terribly. Too much of my life has been spent away from them at sea. Not life’s changes will extend that separation, but their love remains the foundation of my being.

This filled my heart with love and joy same as playing on the beach with kids. and the joy which covers their faces and surprise which sprawl across their faces when they find shells, their treasure. Beautiful is the word, Stephen.
