The Rainbow (1987: Age 17)

October 3, 1987

Cardinal red
Orange river
Yellow carnation
Green grass
Blue sky
Royal indigo
Violet rose

Blood red
Orange arson
Yellow youth
Green fruit
Heart of blue
Indigo fallen
Violet cold

A rainbow
A flood
The sun
Life proceeds
From storm
To sun
A rainbow

Over the next few weeks I will be spending time with my 16-17 year old self from 1987. In no particular order, these poems will be presented in the final form I found them on computer discs discovered in an attic many years ago. This will culminate in the next entry of my Into My Own, My Story as a Writer series found here:

Nice piece Mr.S. For some reason reading it set off Billy Joel’s “We didn’t start the fire.” rolling in my head. Had that been recorded when you wrote this?
